Yue (Joy) joined Commercial Food Sanitation in 2014 as a Food Safety Specialist and has supported multiple food processors in various product segments globally. Joy’s experience and knowledge include microbial troubleshooting, sanitation processes and methods, and sanitary design review. Joy specializes in the produce industry and actively works with fresh cut plants and packinghouses in various operational scales. Joy’s key passions include periodic equipment cleaning, environmental monitoring and mitigation plans, improving sanitation programs, and coaching plant staff.
Prior to joining CFS, Joy worked on several microbial food safety research projects, including an FDA project involving developing sanitation protocol for nut butter processing lines, and industry projects involving validation of HPP treatment to achieve reduction of food-borne pathogens in various low moisture foods. Joy also has manufacturing experience in an FSQA role where she was responsible for developing and maintaining SQF prerequisite programs, and providing employee food safety training.
Joy speaks English and Mandarin. She holds a Master's degree in Food Safety and Technology with a concentration in Food Microbiology from Illinois Institute of Technology/Institute of Food Safety and Health (IFSH), and a Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Engineering from Sichuan University. Joy has certificates in International HACCP Alliance and Better Processing Control School.
