Edwin Román Rivera serves as a Senior Food Safety Specialist at Commercial Food Sanitation (CFS), where he supports customers across Latin America and India in strengthening their sanitation and food safety systems. He brings more than 20 years of experience in the food industry, with a background in auditing, quality systems, and supplier development.
Before joining CFS, Edwin worked at Kraft Foods in multiple roles. As a Global Quality Lead Auditor, he assessed quality systems for sanitation, pathogen environmental monitoring, pest control, and HACCP to meet global regulatory requirements. As a Quality Leader, he led the implementation of world-class quality programs across external manufacturers and suppliers worldwide.
Edwin has worked across a wide range of food industry sectors, including meat and poultry, cheese and dairy, beverages, bakery, gelatin, gum and candy, chocolate, peanut butter, and produce. His certifications include International HACCP Alliance, Rapid Methods and Automation in Food Microbiology, Sanitary Design, Low Acid Canned Foods (LACF), and FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food.
Edwin holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of San Francisco and a master's degree in science and food technology with a specialization in Food Microbiology from the University of Puerto Rico. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and proficient in Portuguese.
